1. Read the intstruction mannual before you begin to operate your new lawn mower or in case you have forgotten or not sure about some aspect on safety at mower operation.
2. Free the lawn mower from foreign objects so that  it can perform at peak efficiency.Remove rocks, small loose objects ,clogs of sticky earth and  small twigs that remain stuck in the mower from previous operations.
3. Children should not be at play on the lawn when the mower is working becuase unexpected contact with the machine can cause harm to their safety.
4. Take note of what the mannual says. If  it says push, then don’t pull it.Sounds obvious, but some mowers are built to go in specific directions.
5. Don’t fill the mower tank with gas in enclosed areas ,such as inside a garage or a shed because it can lead to the build up of combustible fumes.
6. Do not smoke or have any fire or flame near a mower when filling gas.
7. Avoid keeping oil, gas, petrol or other forms of fuel in unmarked containers and especially in containers that had previously been used for edibles.
8. Don’t add fuel to your lawn mower while the engine is running or when the engine is hot.
9.Small kids should not be allowed to operate the mower. If they do give clear instructions and depending on age and behaviour be always watchful of what they are up to.
10. Remove the spark plug before you do any adjustment or installation on the mower.
11. Don’t start the engine  inside an enclosed area because it can lead to a toxic build up of fumes.
12. Don’t move away, leaving a running mower alone. If you do so ask somebody to keep watch or keep an eye on the machine and get back to it soon.
13. Have the engine switched off when doing some repair work to it.
14. Always be watchful of the discharge  during mowing as objects on the path when in contact with the machine can fly away and head in your direction at good  speed causing problems.
15. Always wear safety shoes and long pants when at work with the mower.
