Runnung as a habit in this exercise-crazy urban society is perhaps the most popular and least expensive sport activity that anyone could enjoy.But have you ever recognised the fact,how prone it can be to roadway hazzards on those traffic heavy busy roads and byways within a community of people.Just in case you are not serious how you can stay safe when out on the roads and in the act of running ,the following guidelines would certainly do immense good for you if practised.
Shoes:
Contrary to the strong belief that running barefoot is always good to the human feet ,the vast majority of runners still prefer to run in their shoes and running shoes are considered the first safety equipment for prospective runners. Safety shoes protect their feet against harmful objects and resulting soreness of feet when running.
Identification:
An identification tag is always useful when runniing as a preperation for any unforseen risk that may befall on the road.A road Identification dog tag is easily noticeable ,easy to carry and includes vital data such as name,address,contact number and even some health information such as the blood group.
Having the vehicle license too, can be useful.Some tag that could be worn on your wrist or shoes could be equally good as well.
Clothing:
Wear appropriate cloths for the weather.In summer light and breathable cloths will be the best wear while in winter fabric layers that can wick away your sweat from the body and also act as an insulation for the body would be the right choice.Hats,masks,headbands and gloves also can contribute to keeping your body warm.
Reflective items:
Wearing something reflective is always useul for road safetyness.There are cloths with reflective bands on them.A reflective vest would make your presence obvious to the motorists,especially when it’s dark.
Flashlights and Headlamps:
One sure way to notify your presence on the road in the night is the flashlight or still better a headlamp.A headlamp has several advantages,in that it allows you to procced on the track without deviation, with no object in hand it allows free arm movement and facilitates your running. Headlamps are visible and noticeable by the motorists ,even if they miss seeing the runner on the road.
Strobe:
Strobe light is another way to create attention among the motorists.It’s flickering light makes it more likely to be noticed than the bobbing headlamp of the runner. It does not illuminate the path ,but it’s flicker allows even the motorist behind to notice that somebody is on the road.
Water:
A single most important item for runners is water. Always carry water because your body needs it. It cools your body, prevents dehydraton and sickness.
