Power Tool Safety Tips

An estimated figure  of around 1,25000 serious power tool-related injuries occur each year in the United States alone. This toll is not far fetched when you consider your almost frequent association with power tools and their components at workplace and at home.Accidents occur through total inadvertance in the observation of safety rules that are compulsaary in handling power tools.Here are some ground rules to follow when handling the power tool.

* Taking breaks:
Take brakes during a task operation. Drinking
water ,light snaks and a smoke if you are in
the habit would ceratainly help you in this regard.
* Follow instructions:
Read directions in the mannual or seek advice
from somebody who is considered good at it.
Losing control of a power tool during application
can result in serious injuries    

Stay focused on the job:

                                                                  ensure that you’re not detracted from your
due attention to the task by interferance of
events such as movement of children and pets and
distrubing noises.Choose a prtotected
enviornment for work.
* Maintenance of tools:
Rust and grime build up can hurt your sanders,
drills,saws and other items.Dull blades can jump,
skip and even snap and obstruct a smooth operation and
cause injuries.Take proper care of the tools
and components by cleaning and oiling at
regular intervals.
* Wear protective gear:
Power tools can cause mutiple imjuries such as
cuts and bruises and even burns. Flying debris
from saws or loud noises from drills can damage
your sight and hearing.Wear protective gear
such as ear muffs and glasses to ward off
possible accidents.Also wearing long sleeves
and close-toed protective shoes can provide
additional safety against accidents.
